I know that most of you only read the Bible, but let’s just say that you are reading other books (outside of Chemistry and Social Science). What are you currently reading? What’s influencing you right now?
Share with us here… and we’ll post a Part 2 with your suggestions. Here are a few current influences for me.

At the retreat, Brian Larson shared with us how we can honor with your dating relationships. He did an excellent job of showing how ONE + ONE can equal ONE in Christ. But what happens after a break-up? How does the heart heal.
I’m not the greatest relationship expert, but I read and interesting article at RelevantMagazine.com that might be helpful. God Bless…

Last night was a great time to focus on how church is such a community-based organism. We long to be connected with the Divine community of the Trinity, but we also have a craving to be connected with other believers in the ‘Ekklesia‘.
We took time to investigate Colossians 3:16. This is a loaded text in which Paul truly challenges the church to be saturated with the word of God; like tea in a cup of hot water. This saturation will create the Christ-like community that the church ought to be about– as we teach, reach, praise, and serve.
A great place to be about the joy of brewing community is in what we call small groups. If you are interested in plugging into a group or even finding out how to facilitate one, please contact Kym.

Here are a few passages that would be great to ‘brew’ through this week: Psalm 1, Proverbs 16, Matthew 13. You may also enjoy reading all the way through Matthew 5-7, and John 13-17.
Click here for a brief testimony on the support of community (select “Like a Child” - first 5 minutes). And here for an article of similar theme.
Would you consider yourself curious, a reader, or both? Here is great book for those passionate about nurturing a culture of Christian community.

Sunday proved to be great time talking about the church, the Ekklesia, as the hands and feet of Christ to the world. There is great joy in bringing both the saving and the social gospel to the poor, marginalized, and oppressed.
Below are a few scripture passages of significance relating to Sunday’s talk. They might serve as good Bible reading/meditation this week. Enjoy…
Shutting Ears, A King’s Care, Contempt for God?, Kindness, a Chosen Fast, Good News too

We’ve been talking about the church in our current XRDS series. When Jesus chose to define it, he selected the word Ekklesia, meaning a ’sacred assembly’.
It’s a great reminder that the church is not a building, but a group of people assembled for a greater purpose. Below is the XRDS community working definition for the word church. Let us know what you think!
“A gathering of people ‘called out’ by God for Kingdom causes and His glory alone!”
A Good Read: click here for a recent book about the current culture in relationship to the church.
