H.I.S. Strategy

H.I.S. is designed to help a believer engage in service and stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading through the rest of his life or until Christ’s return.

The Biblical Inspiration for H.I.S. Organizational Strategy comes from Exodus 18:18-21. Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, saw Moses trying to oversee all the people himself and personally handle all their needs. Jethro told Moses that the task was too heavy for him and that he could not do it alone. Jethro told Moses the thing he was doing was not good and Moses would surely wear out. Jethro asked Moses to listen to some counsel, and he would share how to correct the oversight problem.

Jethro’s good solution was to have Moses select from all the people able, God fearing leaders who were truthful and hated dishonest gain. He was to take those leaders and place them in positions as leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens allowing an interesting set of ratios.
• 1,000 had a ratio of 1 to 10
• 100 had a ratio of 1 to 2
• 50 had a ratio of 1 to 5
• 10 had a ration of 1 to 10 on the first personal level
Everyone was personally assigned leadership and given personal oversight. No one was missed. It is from these historically successful Biblical principles we seek to organize the service ministry at Big Valley Grace in order to reveal Christ’s image.

The last ratio above is our example for our H.I.S. Team representation of each believer at Big Valley Grace.

H.I.S. Team Representative

H.I.S. Team Representatives are Big Valley Grace Members who work to see the vision realized of every believer engaged in the service God designed for them. They have a love and ability to mentor 10 or fewer believers placed in their care.

In that relationship, a H.I.S. Team Representative will encourage each person to:
• Attend the S.H.A.P.E. Class and start the process of discovering how God has shaped him for service
• Provide an after class follow up session to find 3 possible ministry opportunities that match his God-given shape.
• Once a person is placed into ministry, the H.I.S. Team Representative would continue to communicate unmet needs within the church which could potentially be met by the individual. They would also stay aware of any unmet needs of the one represented and if desired by the individual, a search could be made to meet that need by others in the church body.

H.I.S. Strategy

Who are the followers of Christ who consider Big Valley Grace their home?

Once this question is answered and a Big Valley Grace follower of Christ is identified, the following is possible:
• A H.I.S. Team Representative is assigned each believer
• Contact is made with the believer by his assigned H.I.S. Team Representative, who encourages the believer through the serve discovery process
• The believer is encouraged to attend S.H.A.P.E. class
• The believer attends S.H.A.P.E. class and discovers God’s imprint on his life
• The believer meets with a S.H.A.P.E. Coach to discover how God’s imprint might match available ministry opportunities
• Together the S.H.A.P.E. Coach and believer choose 3 possibilities for service and the believer is given the name of a ministry trainer to contact for each ministry possibility
• The believer picks one opportunity to start serving and to see if it is a match for both him and the ministry
• When there is a match, Christ is more clearly revealed

The H.I.S. Team Representative encourages the believer in three more areas:
• To consider being part of H.I.S. Core Team to help those who still need to engage in service start the discovery process for serving
• To allow their many other abilities to be made available to meet needs in the church
• To allow their own unmet needs to be made known through the caring and sensitive filter of their H.I.S. Team Representative in order to find God’s resource, within the church body, for each unmet need.

We have a goal of 100%
of all believers at Big Valley Grace to be engaged in the moment by moment service God, by His Holy Spirit, designed for them
The healthy “breathing of the body,” as each believer’s needs and abilities are represented and all needs are met and all abilities engaged in the perfect manner He designed.
