Have you noticed when God calls you to serve Him, He takes you to a new level of dependency? This has been true in my life. As I have settled into the position of Director of Women’s Ministries, God has brought me to a new level of dependency on Him. Am I comfortable? I would have to say no. Being comfortable has nothing to do with obedience. God calls us to a place of service to grow and transform us.

Think about a situation in which you are comfortable. Do you pray as much? Do you seek God through His Word with the same intensity as when He has you in an uncomfortable place? I would venture to guess not.

God asks for our obedience. He brings us to a place of dependency on Him so He can show Himself faithful through the calling He places on us. I know this is true. My life has been different - and difficult - since I said yes to God’s calling. It has been a wild ride.

Something amazing happens when we say yes to God. We see the God of the universe work through us and, as we look over our lives, we see a life transformed.
Many times I have asked ladies to pray about serving in Women’s Ministries. It amazes me how often they share that they have already sensed God tugging on their hearts. He is preparing them for service. They commonly respond that they feel honored but not qualified. I feel the same. I don’t feel qualified to God’s calling.

Have you been seeking God’s plan for your life? Is He increasing your desire to do something that you haven’t had the courage to do? One thing I know: if God calls you to do something for Him, He will equip you to do it. An amazing thing comes with it - Joy! He confirms His calling by giving you joy as you serve Him. I continually experience this as I serve where He has called me. Is it easy? No, but I wouldn’t trade it for the anything else. God calls each of us to a specific place of service. Where is He calling you to serve and invest the talents He has given you?
