Your Sweet Spot is that unique place where God shaped and designed you to serve most effectively, moment by moment, in the local church body.

You have found your sweet spot when you experience personal joy in serving others. Joy comes from obedience to Christ’s commands to “serve one another in love.” We are told in Nehemiah 8:10 that the joy of the Lord is our strength. When you obey Christ’s command to serve others, you gain strength to do even more of the good things He has planned for you.

You have found your sweet spot when there is a successful matching of needs and abilities, and members of the church body benefit. God allows needs to exist in the body of believers so the gifting of His Holy Spirit, which lives in each believer, can reveal His powerful capability to meet each and every need.

You have found your sweet spot when you use the gifts and abilities God has given you to meet a need of someone who does not know Christ yet. Your hands reaching out become the hands of Christ to the one who needs Christ’s touch in their life.

Finding your sweet spot is not just a once a month act of service which is forgotten for the rest of the month. Finding your sweet spot is: helping someone at work or through your work; encouraging someone who needs an emotional lift or spiritual direction; sharing your faith with someone who has never heard or doesn’t yet understand about God’s grace; taking a meal to someone who is sick; making a phone call; writing a note; visiting at the hospital; being a good neighbor; teaching or helping out in a children’s, youth or young adult congregation at church; singing in the choir; praying for those in need; giving leadership; or sharing knowledge or wisdom you have learned with someone who needs it.

There are thousands of moment by moment opportunities for which God has gifted and equipped you. He brings the opportunity for you to fill the need. If you obey, in that moment you have found your sweet spot, are filled with the joy of the Lord and gain strength for the abundant life Christ promised. Are you tired?
