When my wife, Kim, and I first came to Big Valley Grace, we were overwhelmed by the size of the place. We loved the services but struggled to find people we could call close friends. We were preparing to search for a church that might be a better fit when we were invited to a couple’s home. They met regularly with a few others to eat together, read some scripture and talk about life.

Here we found people who cared. They loved us even though we didn’t have it all together. In fact, these church folk didn’t mind letting us know they didn’t have it all together either.

In time, we found that Big Valley Grace had many places to make friends and grow in faith. We found authentic people who knew their way around. They became friends and helped us get involved.

As we became more involved, we made more friends. We sensed God directing our steps. He knew we needed some deep friendships to support us at tough seasons in our marriage. He knew we needed the kind of friends who loved us unconditionally. He knew we needed genuine friends who would help us feel normal during times of chaos. God developed our faith and friendships at the same time.

I know exactly how it is to walk into a place like Big Valley Grace and feel lost. Now that I’m on staff, I want to help you the way people helped me. If you desire real relationships, a community of friends who really care, and a faith that is more and more real, I’d like to help.
