Discovery is defined as “the process of finding out something for the first time”.  Many people have attended church all their lives, but have never understood or experienced the blessing and responsibility of church membership. At Big Valley Grace the class entitled “Discovery” is the first step in becoming really involved in the life of this local church through learning about and participating in church membership. Membership allows one the opportunity of being a blessing to others and receiving the blessing of support, encouragement, and growth that Jesus supplies through His body, the Church. The Scriptures call each of us to participate as joyous members of His body, not to remain as anonymous and disengaged attenders.

A commitment of membership to this local body is a way to obey the command given in Hebrews 13:17 to “Obey your leaders, and submit to them for they keep watch over your souls, as those who will give account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.” To become a member of Big Valley Grace you must attend Discovery, a membership process. The class meets the fourth Saturday of most months.
