Giving

Sacrifice is perhaps the truest sign of love. Whether it’s a teenager saving for that new car, a family setting aside time and money for a local charity, or a single mom working two jobs to support her kids, the common denominator is this: we sacrifice for the things we truly value. The same is true in our journey as Christ-followers. Jesus talks a lot about sacrifice. In fact, he told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24).

We believe God desires us to be liberal in our sacrifices, not holding back, but giving freely of our whole selves: our time, money and resources. We acknowledge that He is the giver of all things and whatever we have we are simply giving back to Him. As the apostle Paul says, “I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship” (Romans 12:1).

The General Fund at Big Valley Grace supports the overall operations of the church, including staff, facilities, ministries and events. In addition, a tithe of the general fund offerings (about 10%) supports our missional efforts to Reach our community and world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
