Welcome! At Big Valley Grace Community Church we believe the purpose of the Church is to bring glory to God. (I Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 1:6, 12) Our mission is to love God, love people, and make disciples. (Matt 22:37-40, Matt 28:19 – 20) As you join The Journey at Big Valley Grace you will:• Worship – experience God’s presence (Heb 13:15, I Pet 2:5, Phil 3:3) • Connect – know you belong (Rom 12:5, Acts 2:42, Eph 4:2)
• Grow – become like Jesus (Matt 11:29, Matt 10:38, Luke 9:23) • Serve – discover your passion (Matt 25:34-36, Gal 5:13-14, 1 Pet 4:10) • Reach – offer His grace (Matt 28:19, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8) From the Pastor,
Beloved, one of the factors that determines whether you’ll be a success or failure in life is largely influenced by the equipment you use. You wouldn’t try to fly across the Pacific in a hang glider. You wouldn’t try to play golf with a baseball bat. And you wouldn’t try to fight a forest fire with a squirt gun. Having the right equipment is pretty important. The same thing is true in your Christian life. There are certain things you need to make it as a follower of Jesus Christ, to live the life God has for you. Now here’s the cool thing. God has already provided everything you’ll ever need to make it as one of His followers. He left you the Bible. Without it, you’ll never be all God wants you to be. He left you the greatest power source known to mankind, His Holy Spirit. Without Him, you’ll never be all God wants you to be. And He left you His church, your spiritual family. Without it, you’ll never be all God wants you to be. Show me a Christian who is not in community with other Christians, and I’ll show you a person who will never be all God longs for him to be. Why? Because we need each other. That’s the way God made us. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it (1 Corinthians 12:27). You see, whether you like it or not, you need me in your life; whether I like it or not, I need you in my life. Why? Because you’re a part of God’s body, and I’m a part of God’s body. Because we are part of God’s body, He expects us to live in community with each other. When you were born physically, you joined a human family, the human race. When you gave your life to Jesus Christ, you were born spiritually. You joined God’s family. The church isn’t an institution; it’s not a religious club; it’s not a society; it’s not an organization, and it’s not a business. The church is a family! You and I are brothers and sisters in Christ. We are family! And this is how God expects us to relate to one another. You are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household (Ephesians 2:19). Being a Christian doesn’t just mean believing. It means belonging! There is a difference between attending a church service and belonging to a church family. God doesn’t want church to be something you go to. He wants church to be a family you’re part of. Beloved, as Christians you not only belong to God, but the Bible says we also belong to each other. In Christ, we who are many, form one Body and each member belongs to all the others (Romans 12:5).
